The park contains 342 hectares of ancient gill woodland, heathland, grassland and farmland together with 5km of dramatic sandstone cliffs and coastline. It is one of the tourist attractions popular with visitors, offering dramatic views over Hastings Old Town, cliff top walks and views over the English Channel. Within the park are numerous marked trails and at the southern end, near the funicular, is an ancient hill fort.
Contained within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, much of the park has been designated a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) die to the unique wildlife and fossil-rich cliffs and slope.
Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve is just east of the Old Town, the funicular up to the park is near to the Hastings Fishermen's Museum.
