Panorama from Cala de Boix in Ibiza. Cala de Boix, on the south east corner of Ibiza, is not a built up beach and is quite popular with the locals. The cove is surrounded by high cliffs and, unlike many beaches of Ibiza, is a little more exposed to the sea. This means that Cala de Biox gets some waves and can at times be a good spot for body surfing.
Local hotels include the Cala Boix Hotel, and there are numerous other hotels and apartments nearby.
The beach at Cala de Biox follows the curve of the cove. It is about 150m long and 10-15m wide, with firm dark sand. The access to the beach is via a series of 39 steep steps from the car park at the top of the cliffs. There are a few restaurants around the car park. Other than this, because of the lack of beach hotels and resorts, there is little on the beach itself. The advantage of this is that Cala de Biox remains relatively quiet even during Ibiza's high season. The cove is also popular among the yatching fraternity, and it is not uncommon to see a number of boats moored here during the day.
