Catswood - Slad - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
Virtual tour panorama taken in spring in Catswood in Slad, Gloucestershire. The trees had just budded, forming a bright green canopy above the woodland, but not yet too dense to allow sunlight through to the woodland floor, with the beech trees covered in ivy. Image taken Easter 2011.

Catswood is one of several small woodlands around the rural village of Slad, a small village in Gloucestershire near to Stroud. Catswood covers a very steep slope descending from Catswood Farm, with Keensgrove wood to the east and Redding wood to the north, further down the hill. A dirt track runs through the woodland, popular with both riders and cross-country motorcyclists.
Slad itself is forever associated with Cider with Rosie, written by Laurie lee, who is buried in the churchyard of Holy Trinity Church within the village. In 1988, a TV adaptation of the book was filmed in the village.
