The Lido first opened in 1936 and is one of the few public lidos still in existence in England, popular with locals during the summer months. Facilities at the Lido include 3 heated outdoor pools (Main Pool, Learner Pool, Paddling Pool), large grass sunbathing area, balcony and refreshments stand. The main pool holds 500,000 gallons of water and its depth ranges from 0.9m to 2.7m.
The Lido is ticketed, and open between May and September each year. At it's peak in 1973 the Lido was visited by 180,000 swimmers.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Bus: Peterborough Lido / Bishop's Road (4, 410), Rivergate (3, 4, 46, 206, 405, 407, 410, 415, 701)
Road: The Lido lies at the junction of the A15 and Bishop's Road, just south of the city center. Peterborough is near the northern end of the A1(M) at the meeting of the A15, A47 and A1139 roads. It is about 37 miles north of Cambridge, 80 miles west of Norwich and 40 miles east of Leicester.
Train: Peterborough Station on East Coast Main Line, about an hour out of London
