Cala Mastella - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
Cala Mastella is the kind of place I like, out of the way, quiet and restful. True, there are few facilities, and a little seaweed at times, but then that is the price paid for a lack of hotels and other over development in a tucked away little gem of Ibiza. The restaurant is a bonus, making a visit to Cala Mastella an evening to remember.

Panorama of Cala Mastella in Ibiza. Cala Mastella is a tiny cove is on the South coast of Ibza, close to the east end of the island. It lies between Cala Llenya (Cala Llena) to the west and Cala de Boix to the east in the San Carlos area. The cove is quite beautiful, and has an excellent reputation for good snorkeling in crystal clear water. There are not many facilities on the beach, no hotels line it and there is only a narrow dirt track that leads towards it. On the beach itself is a small cabin that serves some refreshments. Tucked out ot site on the beach is also a remarkable tiny restaurant 'El Bigote' with an international reputation for excellent food, especially fish. Dining here is by reservation only, in person the day before as the restaurant has no phone. You eat whatever they decide to cook that day. Do not expect to turn up on the night and simply walk in.
