The Amareleja was elevated to Villa in August 16, 1991, is one of the parishes of the municipality of Moura, Alentejo, Portugal, more rich in customs, traditions and legends. Its name comes from in that zone; there are many fields in yellow flowers.
In Amareleja, as in the Alentejo denotes great aptitude for producing high quality wines and typicality, recognized worldwide.
The parish's economic base is heavily dependent on the primary sector, which highlights agriculture, olive growing, viticulture and livestock, around which is organized much of the industrial production and trade of the parish, especially the production of olive oil wine, dried grapes and goat cheese.
