Birdport is a small town in Dorset between Lyme Regis and Weymouth. This town markets itself as one of the gateways to the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site and a very popular tourist destination known for the marine fossils found along the coast. It also has easy access to parts of the Southwest Coast Path and is popular with walking in the summer months, especially around Golden Cap, the highest hill on the South Coast.
Bridport's economy used to be closely linked to the harbour and fishing industries at West Bay Harbour, but now tourism has taken over and the town has numerous Bed and Breakfast (B&B) facilites and small hotels to cater for the visitors who come during the summer to enjoy walking along the shore and visiting the nearby beaches, such as Seatown Beach.
