The Bay of Islands Coastal Park covers a strip of coastline about 32km long between Peterborough and Warrnambool in Nullawarre, Victoria. The park protects a variety of rare flora and fauna species within its coastal heathland environment. It is famous for dramatic coastal views.
Parts of Bay of Islands Coastal Park near the eastern end are accessible to the public. The accessible places include Wild Dog Cove, next to Bay of Martyrs, a lengthy bay with spectacular scenery and Bay of Islands. Smaller coves open to the public include Worm Bay, Crofts Bay, Boat Bay, and, in the western section of the park, Childers Cove.
Within the park is Halladale Point, named after the Falls of Halladale which ran aground here in sea mist en route from New York to Melbourne in 1908. It is rumoured that a group of Europeans were thrown off cliffs and killed by Kirrae-Wurrong Aborigines here, giving rise to another name, Massacre Bay.
