Vila da Ponte is known as the Pearl of Távora, gets its name to an ancient stone bridge that existed there, built by the Romans. With the construction of the dam Távora River, in Vilar, this bridge was submerged.
This region is well known for its tasty brown, some centuries of life sweet chestnut trees, which drop out every autumn around them full of hundreds of urchins brown shiny and unique taste.
