Interlaken is situated at the junction of Lake Thün and Lake Brienz in the heart of the Swiss Bernese Oberland. This is the view from the Schaalbrücke bridge which crosses the River Aare linking the two lakes together. This old part of the town dates back to 1471. Since this photograph was taken, the old building to the left of the red car by the bridge, has since been replaced by an ugly new block.
