Jardin des Plantes - Maze - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
A panorama taken inside circular maze, set on a hill in the Jardin des Plantes. As can be seen from the satellite picture of the Google map of Paris, this is more a spiral than a true maze, as there are no wrong turns to take and get lost in. There is a seating and viewing platform at the top of the maze, which looks like a bird cage on the top of the hill as seen in this picture.

The maze at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris. The Jardin des Plantes started out as the Jardin du Roi when the area was planted as a medicinal and herb garden by Guy de La Brosse, physician to Louis XIII, in 1626. in 1739 the Comte de Buffon became the curator of the gardens and planted the maze shown in this panoramic photograph. The maze of the Jardin des Plantes is very close to the Grande Galerie de l'Évolution. The gardens also contain a variety of planted beds, numerous other galleries, special plant houses and a zoo.
