Svjetionik Sv Petar (St Peter's Lighthouse) stands on the northern end of Sv Petar Peninsula which juts out into the Adriatic from the northern end of the harbour in Makarska. The lighthouse was built in 1884, and today is a popular attraction for the views. It is possible to rent the lighthouse to stay in.
Sv Petar Peninsula separates Makarska Harbour from Donja Luka. Donja Luka is a large curved bay lined with a long beach, hotels and beach resorts forming part of the Makarska Riviera. Out in the Adriatic lie the outlines of Otok Hvar (Hvar Island) and Otok Brač (Brac Island). On the southern tip of the peninsula is another viewpoint, next to a Statue of St Peter giving a great view over Makarska bay, cape Osejava.
