The Peljesac Peninsula is the second largest peninsula in Croatia, with a land area of 358km². It lies in Dubrovnik-Neretva county, and juts out from the Dalmatian coast between Ploče and Dubrovnik. Peljesac is bounded by the Neretva Channel , Bay of Mali Ston , Mljet channel and the Peljesac Channel. It measures about 65km from the mainland to the northern tip, where the small village of Lovište is situated.

Peljesac Peninsula - Villages

Peljesac Peninsula is sparsely habited, though the land has been occupied since Neolithic times, as evidenced by Neolithic remains found in numerous caves. Today all the settlements are quite small, the principle ones being:

Peljesac Peninsula - Travel and Tourism

Peljesac Peninsula is not heavily developed for tourism, however there are a number of holiday apartments in the various villages. Well equipped, often with sea views, these give you the opportunity for a very relaxing holiday in Croatia with time to explore the many coves and secluded beaches on the peninsula. Most of the villages still revolve around fishing and growing olives for income, as well as entertaining visitors.

Peljesac Penincula - CovesThe peninsula has many tiny coves and beaches, some of which are really only accessible on foot or by boat. Because of this, it is not uncommon to see small cruise and leisure boats anchored of shore during the summer months. Some of the coves include:

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE

Flight: Mostar airport (OMO) in Bosnia-hercegovina (81.4km), Split airport (SPU) near Split in Croatia (108.5km), Dubrovnik airport (DBV) (123.6km)
Ferry: Trpanj - Ploce ferry.
Road: The 414 road runs the length of the Peljesac Peninsula, it joins the main 2 Highway at the neck of the peninsula at Zaton Doli, about 40km north of Dubrovnik. Coming south you must take a ferry from Ploce‎ to Trpanj.
