Gabriel's Wharf is a great place to relax, and always has something different to offer. When I arrived to take this panoramic photograph, the area was covered with wooden sculptures, probably created by one of the many resident artists who run boutique shops in the area selling jewelry and various other things. Their presence makes for an unusual picture of London.

Panorama showing the shops and restaurants at Gabriel's Wharf in London, about half way between the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Tate Modern. Nearby is a good viewpoint offering panoramic views of the River Thames and the London skyline in this area. Gabriel's Wharf has become a popular and well known market for unique designer jewelry, clothing and other works of arts. Many of the little shops are run by resident artists themselves and it is a great place to browse for one-off items, or commission a special piece for a special person. This panoramic photograph shows some of the shops of Gabriel's Wharf. There are also numerous wooden carvings on display on the open area which are for sale. Gabriel's Wharf is also surrounded by numerous restaurants and cafes, so whether you are after a quick snack or a full blown 3-course meal there area plenty of places to choose from.

Gabriel's Wharf is nestled between the Oxo Tower and the London Television Centre on the South Bank of the Thames. The area is will known for the arts with the National Film Theatre, Royal National Theatre, Royal Festival Hall, and Queen Elizabeth Hall clustered around Waterloo Bridge. About 10 minutes walk downriver the Tate Modern and the Millennium Bridge are just past Backfriars Bridge.

Gabriel's Wharf scheduled for redevelopment as offices, but after protest form the local residents the area was converted into an open space. The refurbished area opened in 1988, and is still has the feel of a temporary development. The area is headed by the Coin Street Community Builders, and has appeared in a number of films including 'Love Actually'.
