Rimini - FURTHER INFORMATION
Rimini - Rimini visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Rimini' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Emilia Romagna.
Rimini is one of the most famous seaside resorts in Europe. It lies on the Adriatic coast, between Marecchia and Ausa Rivers within Emilia Romagna in Italy. Fronted by 15km of sandy beach, Rimini contains over 1,000 hotels and thousands of bars, restaurants and discos. The city has a long and rich history evidenced by the ancient Roman and Renaissance monuments found there. In 1843 the first bathing establishment and Kursaal were built, beginning Rimini's promotion as a tourist destination.
Rimini was founded in 268BC by the Romans, who left behind the likes of Arch of Augustus and the Tiberius Bridge. It prospered under the House of Malatesta during the Renaissance period, drawing famous artists like Leonardo da Vinci who decorated some of the buildings. The city was badly damaged by bombing during WWII, but has since recovered strongly and is now one of the most important conference and events venues in Italy.
