Povlja Harbour - FURTHER INFORMATION
Povlja Harbour - Brac Island visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Povlja Harbour' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Split-Dalmatia County.
The small fishing village of Povlja lies on the north coast near the eastern end of Brač island in Croatia, close to Sumartin. Used as a sheltered harbour since Roman times, the surrounding area has relied mostly oon fishing, olives and vineyards for income. Today, the town makes for a restful stop for tourists, not busy and with pleasant cafes lining the harbour. On the hillside are the remains of a 5th century basilica, the oldest basilica in Croatia, and one of the local attractions.
A walk round the harbour from the village navigates round the headland to the neighbouring bays, which are popular with locals for bathing and swimming. It is very quiet here and undisturbed and nearby bays of Travna, Smokvica, and Tatinja have good beaches. Ticja luka is also popular with cruise and leisure boats, either as a day stop of overnight anchorage.
