For me, this kind of panorama over the east end of Loch Loyne says what Scotland is all about. A panoramic picture over a vast distance showing the hills in the Scottish Highlands close to Loch Garry and the 'Map of Scotland'. I then ran up the rest of the Mullach Coire Ardachaidh hill to get another photograph from near to the weather station at the top.Loch Loyne - Further Information
Panorama from a near a viewpoint on the A87 overlooking Loch Loyne in Scotland.One of the highest points on the main road from Cluanie to Fort William. As you depart from the Kyle to Inverness A87 and travel south, you slowly climb to this vantage point. A little further on is the "Map of Scotland" loch, Loch Garry and on towards Fort William.
This area appears to be wilderness but don't be fooled for although there is no signs of habitation, extensive land management is evident in the forestry and crofting to utilise the natural resources of such an area, conveniently on a major road - ideal for transporting the produce to market.
As is typical throughout the Highlands, such land management makes for excellent recreational usage too. This point is popular with walkers who depart from around here to walk west and south, a moderately easy climb from an already high altitude to tackle many gentle peaks or long cross-country treks. Maps will often show many walkways interconnecting many Highland areas, so although this looks very quiet and unimportant - it's one of the most used areas of land.
Travel and Getting There
Depart from the A87 Kyle to Inverness road mid way at Cluanie, travel south for approximately 10 miles towards Fort William.
