Devil's Punchbowl Falls are one of the local attractions a short walk from Arthur's Pass in Canterbury on the South Island of New Zealand. These falls are about 131m high, making them the tallest in the Arthurs Pass area and the waterflow varies greatly depending on the season and recent weather conditions.
The walk to the waterfall from the village is a 2km long return route, taking visitors over a bridge and through woods to a viewing platform near the base of the falls. The region is popular for hiking and climbing in the summer months and another attraction are Castle Hill Boulders.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Road: Highway 73 from Christchurch. From Greymouth take the 6 south and then the 73 east. Walk from a parking lot just east of Arthur's Pass village.
Rail: TranzAlpine daily services from Christchurch.
