Havelock Creek at Karangarua - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
Virtual tour showing a view over Havelock Creek at Karangarua near to Fox Glacier in New Zealand. This image was taken in early 2008 just as a cyclone was passing over the West Coast giving low cloud and heavy rains. I was struck by the lichen covered rocks.
Havelock Creek at Karangarua - FURTHER INFORMATION
Havelock Creek at Karangarua - Fox Glacier visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Havelock Creek at Karangarua' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from West Coast.
Havelock Creek is a small, braided mountain stream that feeds in to the Ohinetamatea River, a little south of Fox Glacier on the West Coast of New Zealand. It it crossed by Highway 6 and is just north of the Karangarua. The mountains to the west force up moist air from the Tasman Sea and the area therefore has quite heavy rainfall. The lower slopes of the mountains are covered in temperate rain forest.
