The folk at the door to the church of sv Mikulas in Prague were kind enough to let me in to see the inside the roped off area and take this panorama. The church had been set up for a Mozart concert due later in the day (Prague is full of concerts and many churches were putting them on). Unfortunately, the frescoes on the ceiling of the church are out of view of this panoramic picture.

Church of sv Mikulas - Old Town - Further Information

Panorama from the inside of the church of sv Mikulas (Sv Mikuláš) in Prague. In English this is the church of St. Nicholas. The current church was built between 1732 and 1735, designed by Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer. The original church on the site here was built in the 13C by German merchants and served as the parish church of Staré Město until the completion of the Tyn church nearby.

The church is on the north west corner of the Town Square. A panoramic picture from the palaza outside sv Mikulas shows the white façade of sv Mikulas decorated with sculptures made by Antonín Braun. The interior is modeled after the chapel of St. Louis-des-invalides in Paris. Here there are stucco decorations by Bernardo Spinetti, and frescos made by Peter Adam the Elder. The church used to be hidden from view until the destruction of the east wing of the town hall exposed the front of the church to the rest of the Old Town Square. In the summer the church is used for concerts.
