Saint Vitus Cathedral - Transept - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT

Another panoramic picture from Prague taken by balancing the camera precariously on the top of the poles holding the barrier ropes. Tourists to love to fiddle with the ropes, and there are a lot of tourists in Saint Vitus Cathedral at Prague Castle, which naturally makes the poles unstable. Getting sharp images for this panorama was more than a slight challenge, but over half an hour later... There are, naturally, imperfections with this method of taking photographs.

Saint Vitus Cathedral - Transept - FURTHER INFORMATION

Saint Vitus Cathedral - Transept - Prague visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Saint Vitus Cathedral - Transept' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Hlavní město Praha.

Panorama inside Saint Vitus Cathedral (Katedrála svatého Víta) in Prague. The cathedral, and Prague Castle in which it stands, easily form the most popular tourist attraction in Prague. This panoramic picture was taken at the transept of the cathedral, near the front of the nave at the point where people exit from the Royal Crypt (Královská hrobka). This is the end of the tour of the chancel tour which takes in the remains of various Czech rulers in separate chapels, including the internal organs of Rudolf II buried in the chapel vault. There is a second panorama taken in the middle of the nave of Saint Vitus Cathedral, which shows the massive rose window over the Golden Portal.

The Chancel tour also includes the ostentatious, Baroque Tomb of St John of Nepomuk (1736) and the tomb of Vladislav Jagiello, the only Polish ruler of Czech. The chancel tour ends with the Imperial Mausoleum and the Royal Crypt whose entrance is beside the Royal Oratory. The crypt contains the remains of Rudolf II, Maria Amelia (daughter of Empress Maria Theresa of Vienna) along side a number of other Czech kings and queens who were re interred here in the 1930's. The tour ends by exiting into the nave of the cathedral.
