The Po Lin Monastery is one of the tourist attractions at Ngong Ping on Lantau Island, though not as popular as the Tian Tan Giant Buddha found there overlooking the Ngong Ping Plateau. The monastery was founded by 3 monks from Jiangsu in 1906. Within the main temple are many Buddhist scriptures and three bronze statues of the Buddha representing his past, present and future lives. The monastery makes wooden bracelets that are only sold near the Tian Tan Buddha statue.
