A panorama from inside the church of sv Mikulas in the Lesser Quarter of Prague. This panoramic picture was made from a series of pictures taken by balancing the camera on the end of a pew as tripods were not allowed in the church. I have found this method to be successful when the length of the exposures are too long to hold by hand, though the resulting image may show some alignment errors.

Panorama from the inside of St. Nicholas (sv Mikuláš) in the Little Quarter (sometimes also called the 'Lesser Qarter') of Prague. This church, which dominates Malonstranské námĕstí, is easily the best Baroque building in Prague and one of the last large buildings to be started in the area, but most people simply pass it as they make their way up to Prague Castle.

The church was designed by Krystof Dientzenhofer and started in 1702. It was completed by his son Kilian Ignac Dientzenhofer in the 1750's. sv Mikuláš was a Jesuit church and the size was partially a political statement, the church representing the power of the Jesuits in the city. Their enjoyment of this symbolism was short lived, as they were banished from Prague in 1773, just some 20 years after the church was completed.

The interior contains large frescoes by Johann Lukas Kracker depicting the life of sv Mikuláš, such as throwing bags of gold to prostitutes and saving three unjustly condemned men from an untimely fate. The massive dome is also impressive, as are the four church fathers, one of which is garroting a demon with his crozier. W. A. Mozart played the organ at the church and there are now frequent lunchtime and eventide recitals of his music.
