Napoleonic War Memorial Monument Valleyfield - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT

A monument to the 300 or so prisoners of war who died in valleyfield during the napoleonic wars. Penicuik had three separate prisoner of war depots between 1803 until 1814. The monument was erected in 1830 by Alexander Cowan, owner of the Valleyfield paper mills. The inscription on the monument is All Men Are Brethren.
