Trinapolis church and monastery lies within Verkiai Regional Park on the banks of the Neris river in northern Vlinius. The church, known as the Blessed Trinity Church, and monastery date from the 17th monastery, but the current buildings date from 1752 when they were rebuilt after a fire. For part of the 19th century it served as a French military hospital, returning to Catholic use after WWI. However, during Soviet times much of the interior of Trinapolis Church was damaged. The church and monastery are now run as a convent with attached retreat.
Today the church and monastery lie within Verkiai Regional Park and form one of the stopping points on the famous Vilnius Kalvarija Way of the Cross (Verkių Kalvarijos). This pilgrimage route was established in the 17th century and completed by Dominican monks in 1669. It was laid out to be as close as possible to the route Jesus would have taken from time of arrest to crucifixion, both in terms of distance and relative height. Along the route are about 35 stopping points with various chapels and monuments marking different stages of his arrest, trial, execution and subsequent resurrection. Sadly, many of these were destroyed during Soviet times, but by 2004 they had been rebuilt, re-establishing one of the most important pilgrimage routes in Lithuania.
