Between Cock Marsh and Cookham in Berkshire the Thames footpath runs along the western bank of the river, through land owned and managed by the National Trust. This path also forms part of the 10 mile Cookham - Maidenhead walk listed as Walk 24 in the TimeOut Country Walks near London volume 1. The path passes an old Mill House and Merlin's Head and then approaches the A4094 bridge, close to Holy Trinity Church in Cookham village.
Within the village is the Spencer Gallery, an art gallery containing many works of Sir Stanley Spencer who spent much time painting scenes in the area and who lived in Cookham Rise.
