The Royal Courts of Justice in London are often referred to simply as the 'Law Courts'. Parts of the courts buildings are open to the public. The building is a grand Victorian Gothic construction containing over tree miles of corridors and more than 1000 rooms. It was built in the 1870s, taking 8 years to construct and opened by Queen Victoria in 1882. About 450 houses were demolished to make room for the courts buildings.

The interior of the Royal Courts of Justice are as lavish as the exterior. One of the most impressive halls inside the building is the Great Hall. Visitors have access to all the court rooms and can watch the trials. The Courts also contain an exhibition about of legal dress through the ages. Nearby are Lincolns Inn and Gray's Inn, Inns of the Court where barristers train. Also nearby is Somerset House.
