Seven Sisters - Frost Hill - FURTHER INFORMATION
Seven Sisters - Frost Hill - Eastbourne visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Seven Sisters - Frost Hill' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from East Sussex.
Frost Hill is not actually part of the Seven Sisters, which end at Birling Gap. This hill rises east from Birling Gap towards the Belle Tout Lighthouse Hotel, a disused lighthouse that stands on top of the cliffs. Along the top runs the South Downs Way, making them one of the spectacular highlights of the arduous, 13 mile, coastal walk from Seaford to Eastbourne.
The Seven Sisters HillsThe first of the Seven Sisters themselves rises just east of Cuckmere Haven and the last descends into Birling Gap. In order the hills and dips, or bottoms, between them are:
- Haven Brow followed by Short Bottom.
- Short Brow followed by Limekiln Bottom.
- Rough Brow followed by Rough Bottom.
- Brass Point followed by Gap Bottom.
- Flagstaff Point (and Flagstaff Brow) followed by Flagstaff Bottom.
- Flat Hill followed by Flathill Bottom.
- Baily's Hill followed by Michel Dean
- Went Hill Brow followed by the final descent to Birling Gap.
These coastline here is subject to sea-erosion and is retreating at a rate of about 40cm per year as the cliffs collapse. The beaches below the cliffs can be accessed at Hope Gap Beach, Cuckmere Haven and the Birling Gap, offering great opportunities for rock-poll explorations at low tide. Other notable landmarks include Beachy Head, the tallest coastal cliff in Britain.
