I was not alone in admiring the panoramic view over Kailua-Kona from this viewpoint. Though the car park was fairly empty, it was obvious that at times this place could be quite busy. The view over the bay was lovely, with geckos running about the rocks nearby. Quite often this part of Hawaii quickly become overcast as winds drive moist air over the peak of Mauna Loa, though when I took this panorama, as you can see, the skies were clear.

Panorama of over the Kona Coast of Hawaii taken from a viewpoint on Kamehameha III Road which links the I-11 (Kuakini Highway) with Alii Drive and the beaches, resorts and hotels of Kailua-Kona. The junction of the two roads is between Keauhou Bay and Kahaluu Bay. This panoramic picture give a good impression of this flank the Mauna Loa volcano that forms a large part of western Hawaii Island.

Travel and Getting There:
Take the Kamehameha III Road from the I-11, the lookout is about a mile down the road.
