Kamoa Point - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
Kamoa Point is a rocky outcrop on the coastline along the Kona coast of Hawai'i Island. As you can see from this panoramic picture, the coast here is made of a'a lave and forms a jagged shoreline. Not a tourist spot for sunbathing, but a great place to explore the rock pools and creatures that live in this kind of ecosystem. As is often the case, the image shows the intense blues of the skies and sea, making a great contrast with the black lava rock. Though Kamoa Point looks out of the way, it is in fact but a short walk to the beaches near Kailua-Kona.
