St Michael and All Angels Parish Church, Hawkshead was built in 1300 and rebuilt in the 16th Century. During the 18th and 19th centuries Hawkshead became a town of local importance. Poet William Wordsworth was educated in its grammar school and author Beatrix Potter lived nearby.
