Towards the southern end of Anaehoomalu Bay was an old pahoehoe lava flow, which is seen in this panoramic picture. A reminder of the history of Hawaii, and how the coastline is continually changing.

Take Highway 19 north from Kailua-Kona toward the Kohala Resort Area. At the 76 Mile Marker turn left, and then left again at the King's Shops. There is parking for Anaehoomalu beach at the end of this road.
