Google Map Green Sands BeachPhotographer Description of Green Sands BeachThis panorama barely does justice to the colour of Green Sands Beach. The olivine really does give it a green hue. And this beach is seriously isolated. And there are no facilities. But the surf was great, the company fantastic and I would love to go back. Green Sands Beach is definitely off the beaten Hawaii tourist track.Green Sands Beach - Further InformationPanorama taken looking over the Green Sands Beach on the southern tip of Hawaii Island. This is a totally unique beach where small olivine crystals bave been ground down with the other rocks and form a greenish coloured, fine sandy beach at the end of a narrow cove. The descent down to the beach is very steep and care must be taken not to fall. Access to Green Sands Beach is strictly by 4 wheel drive along deeply rutted, multiply branching dirt tracks, or a 2.5 mile walk east from South Point. This trek is not to be taken lightly, there are no refreshment points on the route and you must carry all the water and food you are likely to want. However, the hike is worthwhile, and there will be few other people to disturb you on this isolated part of Hawaii.Travel and Getting There: Comments and Reviews.
