There are no trees here, but I am sure they would have been virtually horizontal. The view and colours were amazing.The Basset Memorial - Carn Brea - Further InformationA panorama of The Basset Memorial at the top of Carn Brea near to Redruth in Cornwall. This 90 foot high granite monument was built in 1836 in memory of Lord Francis Basset, one of the major mine owners in the Camborne-Redruth mining district at that time. Lord Francis Basset later became Lord de Dunstanville. The monument is 730 feet above sea level on the top of a Neolithic Iron Age hill fort and has commanding panoramic views of the surrounding area.
