There were numerous ruins of the old Cornish mines. It is hard to grasp the conditions the miners would have laboured under as they brought up tin from the earth. You can get a good oversight of the mine by zooming in at the highest level on the Satellite image of the Google map of Cornwall.

A panorama of Carnkie and the Great Flat Lode in Cornwall. These are ruins from the old Cornish mining industries. In this area you will find numerous shafts and other mining works. There are placards to describe the various buildings and their functions. In the area you will also find the West Wheal Basset Stamps. Near to where this panoramic picture was taken is Carn Brea. There is a commanding panoramic view of the entire are from the Basset Memorial at the top, and from Carn Brea Castle.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Car: Take the B3279 south from Redruth (north from Helston) until the small village of Four Lanes (about 2.5 miles from Redruth). Turn west towards Higher Carnkie down Loscombe Road and then right down Filtrick Lane to these ruins.
