The Ferry on Lake Thun - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
This is one of the regular ferries that sail across Lake Thun between the city of Thun and Interlaken, stopping off at various villages on the way. You may even be lucky enough to travel on a restored steam paddleboat, the 'Blumisalp' which is also used for special occasions. In good weather there are excellent views of the surrounding scenery including the Niederhorn and Niesen mountains, Oberhofen Castle, and the little village of Spiez.

Lake Thun (Thunersee) in Bernese Oberland is considered to be one of the most beautiful lakes in Switzerland. The 18km long lake is surrounded by mountains. At the western end is the town of Thun after which the lake is fed. To the east is Imterlaken which is built on a land bridge between Thunersee and Brienzersee (Lake Brienz, named after Brienz village found at the far eastern end).
Lake Thun is fed by water from Lake Brienz, which is just a little higher. The joining river flows through Interlaken. Nearby is the famous Jungfrau mountain and ski area based around Lauterbrunnen and Wengen.
