This panorama was taken from a boat just of Arne Peninsula and Arne Bay in Poole Harbour. The boat was somewhere in the Upper Wych Channel near to Big Flat and Balls Lake within Poole Harbour west of Brownsea Island and north of Long Island and Round Island.

The Big Flat is a part of Poole Harbour, just off the Arne Peninsula and Patchins Point, on the southern side of Brownsea Island. It is dangerous at low tide, when boats and yachts are well advised to keep to marked channels.
