This panorama was taken from a boat in the Blue Lagoon in Poole Harbour. This 'lagoon' is man made in the sense that an artificial wall separates the bay off from the rest of Poole Harbour. The area inside is naturally well protected from wind and waves and an ideal spot for sailing ships, yachts and other boats to moor. There is a yachting club nearby. If you zoom in on the satellite image you can clearly see the channels which are dredged clear for boats to be able to exit the lagoon at low tide, when many boats end up stranded on the mud.
