Whiteley Bay and Blackpool are within Poole Harbour, protected from the open sea by the spit of Sandbanks and Sandbanks Beach. The area is very popular for windsurfing and kitesurfing from Whiteley Bay beach, with shallow waters that catch good wind while the spit means that it is rarely too rough to play on the water.
Whitley Bay is also very shallow, and those falling off their surf boards can simply stand up and get back on. Sandbanks spit is famous as having some of the most expensive real estate in the world built on it. All the property here goes for millions of pounds as they offer panoramic views both over Poole Harbour and the rest of the bay on the other side. One wonders how these properties will fare should the sea levels rise in the future.
