St Nicholas church dates from the 14C, when it was built to resolve a dispute between the parishioners of Abbotsbury and the Benedictine monetary around which the town was growing. The church was built out of local golden stone, as shown in the panorama outside St Nicholas church. That image also contains more about the history of the church.
