This is the view from the tip of the famous Cobb where you can see the new beach being constructed behind Victoria Pier. This was finished in 2006 and was intended to provide pontoons and extra moorings for visiting boats. The Beacon Rocks at the end of the Cobb had previously been extended and re-aligned in 2005 with granite rocks weighing up to 18 tonnes each, especially imported from Norway. The peak on the horizon in line with these rocks is known as Golden Cap just west of Charmouth, and is the highest point on the south coast at 191 metres.
