Pangasinan is a province on the island of Luzon in the Philippines, with it's western boundary on the Lingayen Gulf. Meaning 'land of salt', Pangasinan is a major producer of salt in the Philippines. Prior to the arrival of the Spanish in the 15th century, Pangasinan was home to the Luyag na Kaboloan kingdom which had Binalatongan as the capital city. Today the capital of the province is Lingayen. The region has a number of beaches, museums and ancient sites that attract visitors.
