About the Australian Capital Territory

The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) is the smallest self-governing territory in Australia. It was created in 1911 out of a section of New South Wales for the location of the country's capital city, , construction of which began in 1913.

As well as the city of Canberra, the ACT contains a large amount of agricultural land and the Namadgi National Park. Other settlements within the territory include Hall, Naas, Tharwa, Uriarra and Williamsdale.
