Vanua Levu is the second largest island of Fiji. The two principle towns on the island are Savusavu and Labasa. Savusavu is on the southern edge of the island and close to the regional airport. Labasa is about 3 hours from Savusavu on the northern edge of Vanua Levu.
Vanua Levu is becoming increasingly popular with travellers. It is far enough away from it's larger neighbour in Fiji to feel remote, but easily accessible by both boat and plane from Nadi and Suva. Whilst there are not many large sandy beaches on Vanua Levu, the island offers fantastic diving and snorkeling, including the world famous Rainbow Reef. The rugged coastline is good for kyaking, and the unspoint interior is full of tropical jungle with it's associated diverese wildlife. Eco-tourism is becoming increasingly popular on Vanua Levu.
