Bay of Plenty - New Zealand

The Bay of Plenty is on the east coast of North Island, New Zealand. It is often abbreviated as the BoP, and as Te Moana-a-Toi in Māori. To the west of the Bay of Plenty is the region of Waikato, to the east is East Cape, and to the south is Hawke's Bay. To the north is a bay known by the same name. The Bay of Plenty was named by James Cook after he saw the plentiful supplies in some of the surrounding villages in 1769. The two principle cities in the region are Rotorua and Tauranga
