Wellington Region

The Wellington Region is on the southern end of North Island of New Zealand. Within the Wellington region is Wellington City, the capital of New Zealand. This is the most wealthy region of New Zealand. It is mostly surrounded by sea, with the Pacific Ocean to the east and the Tasman Sea to the west. The narrow Cook Strait between North Island and South Island join the two seas. To the north, Wellington borders the Manawatu-Wanganui region.
