New Zealand is made of 2 islands, known as North Island and South Island. On the North Island are both Auckland and Wellington. Cape Reinga is at the top of Northland, the northern most point of New Zealand. Other well known areas of outstanding beauty include the Cathedral Cove and beaches of Coromandel Peninsula, the volcanic region around Rotorua and lake Taupo.
On South Island are Christchurch, Dunedin, Nelson and Greymouth. The Otago Peninsula near Dunedin has fantastic scenery and is a very popular travel destination. Popular too are the round Moeraki Boulders just up the coast, and Shag Point where seals rest in large numbers. On the west coast are Milford Sound, Fox Glacier and Cook Mountain.
