Styria (Steiermark) Guide


This Styria guide is part of the Austria guide. It contains an interactive map of Styria showing some of the areas of interest. The German for Styria is 'Steiermark', it is one of the nine Austrian states and borders the other regions of Upper Austria (Oberösterreich ), Lower Austria (Niederösterreich), Salzburg, Burgenland, and Carinthia. Styria also shares international borders with Slovenia. The capital of the region is Graz.

Styria is probably bes known for skiing, as the region contains in excess of 80 different ski resorts, mostly in Upper Styria mountains. The region is also known for growing wine. There three main wine growing areas are South-eastern Styria (Radkersburg and Feldbach districts), Southern Styria (Leibnitz district), and Western Styria (Graz-Umgebung, Voitsberg and Deutschlandsberg districts).
