Coverack

Photographer Description of Coverack

Panorama taken from Coverack in Cornwall. It is easy to imagine that on a warm still day Coverack would be a great place to relax, enjoy the sun and watch the sea. This image was taken just after a storm, so the sea was anything but calm and the wind was, well, windy.

Coverack - Further Information

Coverack on the south coast of the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, east of Lizard Point and close to St Keverne. Coverack (Cornish: Goveryk) is a small fishing village, though nowadays the majority of the income is from the tourist trade. The village has a number of small hotels and a youth hostel. It is popular for water sports including wind surfing, sailing and diving. The Manacles Rocks are nearby, which were the scene of many a shipwreck and which today offers very good wreck diving opportunities.

This panoramic picture is taken from the rear of the bay near to where the B3294 enters Coverack. At the end of the right side of the bay is a small harbour, hotel and bar at Dolor Point.
