Hampshire
Hampshire is a county in the south of
England east of
Dorset and west of West Sussex. The County Town is
Winchester, which, with
Winchester Cathedral, is actually a city.
Hampshire is also very well known for Southampton and Portsmouth, home of the HMS Victory and HMS Warrior ships as well as the remains of the Mary Rose. Southampton International Airport is near just north of Southampton near Eastleigh. Both Southampton and Portsmouth are busy international ports on the English Channel with ferry routes to France. All along the coast are little harbours and marinas a relaxed little towns, making this a haven for yachts, pleasure craft, sailboats and water sports enthusiasts.
From Hampshire, you can sail over the Solent sea channel to the the Isle of Wight, a very popular holiday destination with outstanding scenery, the famous Needles cliffs, cliff gorges and parkland, long sandy beaches and a great atmosphere geared to accommodate visitors.
